Pros

The best reason to work here is that as long as you do your job, there is littke chance of being laid off. The pension is good. We have a good health insurance policy, TSP,flexible spending accounts. Leave or vacation can usually be taken at any time ehrn there is no pending prioity if management is advised of your vaacation needs.

Cons

In my area there is liitle room for promotion, as promotions in your area are difficult to obtain, anf it is not easy to move to a new department. Raises are not based on merit. Raises come from Congress where there this encourages a "get by Philosophy". You can get an annual bonus award, but this is a small percentage of yoyr salary.
