Pros

Health and retirement benefits Not much else

Cons

Make no mistake - this is the most despised role in the most despised Federal agency. The flexible work schedules used to be a pro but have now gone away so you are stuck with 8-4:30 M-F. For what you do the there used to be a trade off for the low pay with the flexible work schedules and health and retirement benefits. Now those benefits have eroded substantially so you are left with an underpaid job and the associated stress. There also used to be opportunities to move laterally temporarily or permanently if you wanted to move to a different role. With the current hiring freeze in place, this has gone away as well.
