Pros

Liberal vacation offering, medical and dental benefits, job security

Cons

Most managers do not know how to manage people. A lot of employees don't try to advance. They stay in the same job for years, sometimes decades.

Pros

I worked since year 2006 and found the management very supportive on employees career advancement. A lot of training year round to update the IRC knowledge and customer service technique over the phone. I got promoted from GS-5 to GS-8 without competitive one grade per year. Fair pay and pretty good medical, sick pay, and retirement TSP matching.

Cons

Difficulties in handling calls from all over the world. People who are frustrated whenever dealing with the IRS. Since the budget cuts many years ago, callers have to wait few hours before getting someone on the phone. Long working hours non-stop talk on the phone is hard.
