Pros

-Great work life balance with a maximum of 40 hour work weeks -Telework offered after your first or second year -Pension -Union representation -Job security under normal circumstances (I.e. not being ruled by a dictator) -Transparent public pay schedule -Independent work

Cons

-Currently the US is being run by a lunatic so don’t apply to the IRS for the next four years -Telework benefits have been stripped -Union representation is trying to be removed -People are unsure if they will have a job each and every day -Your manager will make or break your experience as a revenue agent.

A lot of flexibility and independence to work on audits as you want. Received substantial training on tax law and how to audit returns which made the job easier.

Cons

Changes in the current administration have made the IRS a terrible place to work. Morale is at an all-time low.
