Pros

I got to meet some great people. I learned a lot about tax law and what goes into the making of tax law. I got some great benefits and the pay was above average.

Cons

I was threatened by a taxpayer's father. I was lied to by at least half of the people I audited. I hated to bring bad news that they owed money to good people who made honest mistakes or followed bad advice of others.

Pros

Flexible hours, work at home, good benefits. Work can be interesting, but was better in past years.

Cons

Has become numbers oriented. Fair and quality treatment of tax cases has significantly worsened. Lack of staffing has contributed to professional employees wasting much of their time on clerical duties.
