Pros

Salary competitive in comparison to similar opportunities Benefits and leave awarded are good 401 k accumulate government work experience that can be applied to future job applications

Cons

Tedious work Days drag on Training for the job was very poor, would be better served as more hands on, instead training consisted of a book, and a trainer who read to you outloud the exact words in the book.

Pros

Believe it or not, I found a relaxed atmosphere and wonderful co-workers at the IRS. I felt the training provided to be very good and the benefits quite generous.

Cons

Sometimes external departments came down too heavily on employees with too little information. There was, at times, a sense that the head was not connected to the body.
