Pros

Flextime, goes up to GS-11.

Cons

This is job entails a lot of paperwork. It consists of 70% paperwork and 30% interacting w/ taxpayer. You have to document everything that is being done and management is very strict w/ allocating time appropriately to cases. You will have about 80 cases in your first year. This job is not for everyone. I sometimes regret leaving my other agency. Remember the grass is not always greener.

Pros

The training is incredible. You have an instructor for at least a year and a half to help with cases and procedures. The job is genuinely enjoyable and provides numerous opportunities for advancement. There is something new to do every day and is far from monotonous.

Cons

Old technology and software. Databases are not connected so it is time consuming to switch between systems to get one piece of information.
