Pros

Competitive salary and benefits, especially for new hires moving in from other geographical regions. The cost of living in Rochester is very low, and the housing market is steady. As an engineer in this geographical region, ITT is one of few stable job opportunities that still affords a comfortable lifestyle. Taking paid time off is easy with very little hassle. ITT consistently makes money even in this harsh economy. New hires can expect a great way to learn how the industry works and build valuable experience before moving on.

Cons

Management offers few opportunities for professional growth (travel, conferences, etc). The relatively high average age means lots of middle managers. The culture of jaded ex-Kodak workers can be depressing. Management is not interested in employee wellness, as evidenced by the health plan and lack of wellness-based incentives. The Hawkeye plant downtown is in a downright dangerous neighborhood. Violence outside the office and vandalism to employee property is a not so rare occurrence. The way management tries to downplay it is insulting.

Pros

High pay and competitive benefits. ITT generally pays well over the industry average for the geographical area. Negotiatiate well when you join and when you change jobs. Merit raises tend to be average to below average.

Cons

Lack of job security due to the relentless drive for quarterly profits. At the first hint of poor operational performance, the first step is to eliminate business class travel - a normal perk for executives and anyone traveling overseas. The next step is to curtail overall spending and specifically travel. You can then be assured a layoff is in the works. Totally predictable.

Pros

Good bonus standard 3% raise yearly Team was great

Cons

Awful culture, every person is held to a different standard. No advancement unless you threaten to leave. Unwilling to spend money everything is old and outdated. No vision for the future.
