      Pros

      ITW cultivates creative and high energy people. The management team is very smart and capable. The product lines and customers are great.

      Cons

      The company is going through many structural and management changes that are good for the future.

      Pros

      Benefits are good. Pay and working conditions depend on your position and the business unit you hire into. Some business units are OK, some are not. Politics and luck will play a great part in advancement.

      Cons

      Though the overall business model is decentralized, major policy decisions are made by people in Illinois. This means that people who have no experience in your particular industry will make sweeping policy changes that the people who actually do the work must live with. The basic problem is a cookie cutter approach to all business decisions. If you hire into a newly acquired business unit, you may find considerable turmoil and disruption as ITW executives remold the culture in their image.

      Pros

      Benefits are great. "Some" internal growth opportunity. If you're looking to work with historic technology, this is the division.

      Cons

      Management not responsive to employee suggestion. Disconnected from production floor. Internal growth limited. Upper management seems more intent on creating/finishing "projects" that have minimal impact on production. Looks good on paper, though. No investment in equipment or maintenance.
