      Pros

      Tremendous amount of exposure to engineering, production, business strategy and innovation strategy.

      Cons

      Pay is not so great. ITW's highly decentralized philosophy sometimes makes you feel like you are working at a mom and pop shop. Not enough R&D experts within the company. Not an innovative company.

      Pros

      The other employees are good people. There is the possibility to move to different facilities if desired and there is a variety of experiences. There is no shortage of work.

      Cons

      There is no structure and the work structure is very shallow. There is a lot of secrecy, making people generally nervous. Along with the secrecy, there is a large work load causing excessive stress. There is not enough work/life balance; the comment "half day?" has been thrown around way too often when people leave at 5pm after putting in a full day. The bad portion of "no shortage of work" leads employees to never have any down time. The pay is also very low for those that started out during the down turn.
