Pros

Talented and hardworking employees. Generous retirement with pension and 401k. Good pay for the Valley, great pay outside of it. A good amount of time off earned.

Cons

Myopic management. The vaunted work/life balance of Idaho Power is a myth in IT unless you're a manager. Work culture is about CYA. Nothing is approved by management unless there is a fall guy in place. Vacation can and has been cancelled. Management is growing, the actual amount of people doing the work is shrinking.

Pros

The company has great benefits and the people are great to work with.

Cons

The company is unfriendly to the environment, killing salmon to generate power. The company is extremely bureaucratic and slow to do anything. It is as bad as working for a governmental agency. The company has far too many employees who are just waiting to retire and are not doing any work.

Pros

Established history. Monopoly. Will be forced to be accountable either by shareholders, employees, the IPUC or the FTC.

Cons

Organization lacks integrity. Unqualified senior management.
