Pros

I’ve been with Imprivata for little more than 4 years and I have to say it’s been an awesome journey so far. I simply hope it will continue ;-) I’ve seen the company go public, got acquired and coming private again and I sincerely believe the focus has always remained to the most important, which is the customers. The three values, Integrity, Courage of convictions and Passion has always been there and remained true despite all the changes in my opinion. During my journey, I had the opportunity to listen to amazing people during kickoff meetings such as Gene Kranz, flight director of NASA mission Apollo, or Alison Levine and her inspiring story just to name 2. The products are truly solving real problems, employees are respected and the company is always seeking feedback in order to provide the proper tools to be successful. The benefits are really competitive, what else can be asked for!

Cons

No companies or people are perfect but at Imprivata, I never encountered an issue that would be big enough not to be appreciative of all the positive experience I have the chance to live.

Pros

Free food, location next to bike trail, some treadmill desks.

Cons

Tons of carbs doesn't make up for a toxic culture. You're either part of the "in" crowd or you're invisible. Entrenched nepotism; most interns are kids of management. Top talent resigning every week. Such a bro culture that one person actually said to me "of course we're bro culture but that's OK because I'm a bro". Absolutely no product direction since the acquisition. Bullying isn't simply accepted, it is rewarded. Most of us have learned to keep our mouths shut because our ideas will not be listened to and neither will our complaints. Very loud office environment; most of us wear headphones 8 hours a day. I agree with others in saying the positive reviews here are written by HR. Tried bringing concerns to management multiple times; never a productive response...they don't want to hear anything that doesn't match their narrative that this place is amazing. The euphemism for training is “retooling existing resources”. Come here if you enjoy being a fungible number. On the technical side: I've never seen such an extreme case of Not Invented Here syndrome. Plus, we have a mandatory annual kickoff party. To register for the party you have to indicate which group you are in. The choices are “us sales, us marketing, uk sales, uk marketing, other”. Yes, all of engineering is “other”. Everyone is talking about this in the halls but management doesn’t care. Product quality is diving because too much knowledge has walked out the door…distributed systems are hard…especially if there is no one left who remembers why systems work the way they do. Absolutely nothing being done to stem the exodus.
