Pros

Indeed has a fantastic work culture. Everyone is smart, friendly, they treat the engineers extremely well, we have great benefits, and it's a joy to come to work. We have big technical projects, but don't have to break our backs to get them done. Compensation is among the highest in the Austin area. I'm proud to work here.

Cons

The engineering org is unusually political. If you need a project that introduces new technology, it's not enough to make a good technical case, but I've found you need to appease individuals in the "global infrastructure"/"systems engineering" organization. Without their approval they'll actively block your work; and even with their approval, they'll take months to do the work necessary to let you do your work while imposing unusual access restrictions in the name of cost and security. Almost my entire team is operating at 33% efficiency as we're blocked on systems engineering efforts to move forward. There needs to be some alignment among senior leadership on how we choose to empower developers to occasionally break the mold.

Thanks for leaving a review of your work experience at Indeed, and to your over 3 years of service. You%E2%80%99ve helped Indeed grow to where we are today, with a big hiring surge at the beginning of 2019. We%E2%80%99ve grown from a 6000+ company to over 10,000 in a short time, so there were some growing pains across all business units. That said, we continually survey and take pulse checks of our employees to see where we can improve, so we value and acknowledge your feedback! If you have any additional feedback to provide, we encourage you to send us an email at inside@indeed.com!

Pros

Working at Indeed is truly a great experience with a wealth of knowledge to be learned. Indeed is willing to invest the time into you in order to see you succeed. Sales goals are attainable however in the growth org it's difficult to grow a book as large as Indeed believes you should. Office snacks and drinks breakfast every day and lunch once a week.

Cons

Indeed is run as an organization that grew too fast and now management goes by ridiculous metrics to measure their staff instead of what really matters. Ex. Person on a sales team can spend all day talking to clients about things other than closing business and selling and gets celebrated for the amount of time on the phone as opposed to the context of what was being discussed. Whereas someone else can close business in a short amount of time and it gets glossed over because it didn't take an hour and a half to close business. - Indeed comes up with sales goals for its team without an understanding of what a book of business can actually do and you get yelled at for an account that stops spending although Indeed is non contractual and a 100K spender can choose not to spend the next day. - Sales teams are measured by number of calls made in a day and anywhere from 60-80 calls are expected and then the same sales teams are asked to do a ton of other work. - Indeed is lying to itself if it thinks this level of management is sustainable. - It feels like Indeed's culture has shifted from a fun energetic and for lack of a better word real place to being a factory workforce with robots to drill out phone calls and pray to God their quota doesn't get blown out of the water.

Pros

This company does what it says on the tin: helps people get jobs. You will work hard and deliver this goal in everything you do, and you will directly see the results. Most days, I go home feeling great about what I've done in the day. The Scaled Operations team will give you the autonomy you need to do your job.

Cons

You will often be overworked and underpaid. Although your lead will fight for you, the Scaled Operations team under the Search Quality organization has no actual method for leveling its employees up. You may be stuck in your same position for a long time without much improvement, if any.
