Pros

The work is interesting, intellectually stimulating, and for the most part seems important in a big picture way (benefits humanity etc.). The benefits package for entry-level positions is unrivaled in Bloomington. The culture is very focused on continuing education and pursuit of knowledge.

Cons

Salary is on the low side if you don't take the benefits into account. Raises are small and far between. But worst is the lack of a path for career advancement. There is no direct path from staff to professional.

Pros

IU focuses on employee professional development and has strong diversity commitment. They have excellent facilities for staff and find time to incorporate events for staff and faculty to collaborate. Bloomington IN is a good place to live and work with an excellent college town setting in central Indiana.

Cons

it is a large organization that can be slow at decision making at times

Pros

Many good professors; lots to learn in a variety of different subjects. The Science programs are all pretty good and the instructors generally know what they're talking about

Cons

Some department heads/advisors can be difficult to work with at times or unavailable. Since there is a small number of students compared to a more traditional school, some of the more upper-level classes are not offered as much.
