Pros

Great technical exposure and growth. Wide variety of projects - lots of diverse experience, you aren't pigeon-holed. Great colleagues - friendly higher ed environment. Caring about family and/or personal time. Decent benefits. Does much more than your typical NOC - through tier3 support, architecture, etc.

Cons

SImply need more staff to do what they do.

Cons

bad pay, top heavy management, reactionary and intrusive, mean natured and bitter...Bloomington is a town better for self satisfied neoliberals than for creative people

Pros

Lots of vacation and good benefits. Smart people to work with.

Cons

I encountered extensive gender discrimination while at IU. The 'old boys club' is really a 'young boys club' with poor social skills pervading the workplace. The limited options mean that the salaries can be kept low.
