No upward mobility and motivating factors.
Corporate culture is cold and impersonal, no team building, does not feel “like family”.
Heavy on paperwork to the point of absurd. One paper covers another in cycles. Personal responsibility and signature is not valued. Decision risk is always spread by forced collegiate process as result you rarely can get things done your way.
Overall company is penny-pinching when it comes to employee. Personal sacrifices for company are not rewarded.
Motivation from management is on the level of “be happy you have a job” and “we think we pay you well”.
Corporation spends ton of money on agitation. Walls are covered with typical eye-sore posters.
If you are next Steve Jobs forget about Infineon. This company is not for you. Infineon likes quiet executant doers.
All top management always appointed and sent from Germany, therefore mid management has nowhere to grow, as result whole corporate structure is stagnant. There is absolutely no upward mobility. It’s zero. I have not seen promotions. Open positions filled from outside. By joining Infineon, you put your carrier on brake.
Corporate philosophy is like that: if you happy where you are you can retire from here, if you are not happy – go. I’ve seen many good professionals leaving company for that reason.
It’s the most discouraged, diminished, and the least rewarding job I had for long time.
There are couple of unprofessional, abusive, threatening, yelling, disrespectful managers that make work environment a hell, but HR and upper management do nothing about it.
Compensation
You work for a salary and annual bonus. Bonus varies every year and can be quite high. Compensation and bonus structure changes time to time. Most times bonus is not depending from your personal performance.
Performance evaluation is once a year at the end of corporate fiscal year. Pay raises are mediocre, delayed, and not regular.
Benefits
There is no profit sharing, stock options, RSU, or any similar incentive benefits.
What stands out is vacation time. Infineon encourages use of PTO. To schedule straight 3-4 weeks off is not an issue.
Infineon has generous 401K plan with company matching and retention vesting.
Medical insurance coverage and options are good, but cost for employee more than double and keep rising every year. It got costly.
Company matches dependent care account and gives one week for maternity/paternity/burial leave.
During my time, I have seen many perks been eliminated without replacement.
For Longtimers
Infineon sold a division with few hundred employees without offering a severance package option. Absolutely nothing.
Sometimes I think that Infineon looks OK only because competition is even worse.
