If you are looking into working in IT, think very long and very hard about it.

Pros

Pay for the role is OK, not keeping up with the Google/FB/Linkedin's anymore though.

Cons

Many single points of failure. Many contractors who doesn't have to be managed as staff, which management seems to like. A lot of turnover right now, at both executive and staff level. Not enough staff to justify all the upper-middle management. Staff not part of the team, treated like contractors. Everything looks to be moving to India, where quality is terrible. Accountability is arbitrary. HR is absent...

Thank you for your candid feedback. I’m sorry you were not satisfied with working at Informatica. We benchmark our pay ranges at least yearly to ensure that we pay market-competitive salaries. The company will be looking at our pay ranges again in Q1 to ensure they are at the right levels. Regarding your feedback on single points of failure, we have redundant processes in place for our most critical systems. We rely on our employees and many of the latest technologies to maintain high uptimes. Thank you for your comments about staff not feeling part of the team and management needing to empower and communicate better. The IT organization is increasing focus on continual communication and meeting with employees to create a sense of team. The company moved a part of its help desk to India, where we have had operations for many years. Pros

salary, provide the resources you need, a lot of business potential

Cons

Managers need people skills training. Management takes no responsibility for nurturing and guiding employees. Professionalism with regards to treatment of employees is lacking. There is no camaraderie. There are a few people who sit in rooms and make decisions and do not know how to succinctly communicate the importance and role to each employee who has to make the vision and strategy come to fruition.

- not enough cross-functional collaboration and communication - some functions value people less than others - some managers are awesome while others are just so-so
