Pros

Used to be a 'family' oriented company with lots of solid people Used to have a competitive BI offering

Cons

Cheapness pervades every aspect of this company, from the 0% company match for 401K to the thrift-store approach to hardware/software purchases for the field Getting a raise is like pulling teeth - good luck getting your salary to keep up with the cost of living Leadership claims to care about its employees, but they're too busy playing musical chairs to make sure they're around after the next layoff Layoffs (usually 2) every year followed by a flurry of promotions among upper management Poor internal communication

Pros

Friendly coworkers, good commuting location.

Cons

Information Builders provides almost no training from experts coming to our location or by attending outside classes. In over five years at the company I received only one professional training session, and the room was overcrowded with employees and the course length was cut by 1/3 over the instructor's recommendation, resulting in an extremely poor experience. Many colleagues have not received a raise in over a decade, without explanation. This year -- no performance appraisals. Another excuse not to give raises. Promotions? The company is shrinking in headcount, few opportunities to advance.

Pros

Interesting products and headquarters located in NYC.

Cons

I don't know about any recent changes but the following problem was so engrained in the corporate culture, I find it very hard to imagine anyone has taken it seriously. Women were treated very unfairly. Problems ranged from vast salary disparities and explotatation, to inappropriate innuendos and harrassment. If you're a fan of excuses such as "boys will be boys", or "it's just locker room talk" then this is a great place for you. If you have any scruples, you'll stay away.
