Pros

Well structured recruitment process Office environment modern and clean Job duties made enjoyable with small company themed days/lunches/competitions Close-knit environment Redundancy payments were fair

Cons

Many staff are non-english speaking, having conversations all around you in a different language, which comes across rude and somewhat alienating Poor direction from supervisory staff and lack of communication in general No paid overtime, yet plenty of demand for it 100 Jobs made redundant, including mine, only 6 months after being hired. They had the redundancy planned but purposely kept us in the dark so we'd work hard over the End of Financial Year, then tell us we are losing our jobs the next week back!

no process, no communication with managers. No industry standards followed in terms of technical process. No documentation at all. They call you on weekends and that is mandatory.

Pros

- Ingram is #1 in the world and will be in business a long time (stability) - If you perform well, and you navigate your career carefully (stay away from "special projects"), you can succeed there for a long time - You can get overall general management experience very early in your career compared to other places. - Strong promote-from-within culture - many companies just poach talent outside

Cons

- Perpetually understaffed due to low margin model of distribution (ie a lot of work for current employees) - Low starting salaries and weak entry-level recruitment = spotty talent at the lowest levels. The best rise up, but often the "best" are only okay compared to other companies - Tremendous travel at director and above level, since staffing levels are low - Economic model makes new investment and initiatives tough. Ingram does well versus other big distributors, but struggles in new initiatives compared to specialty distributors.
