Pros

Folks in HR and management are friendly, and respectful, which is rare in the cut-throat government sub-contracting world. The overall experience working with them was pleasant. They respond right away to questions. I enjoyed working with most of my co-workers.

Cons

Let me start with my biggest concern, which was the medical cost (over $800 a month!). Yes, the medical cost was over $800 a month for a family of 3 or more, with a deductible of $2k-3k a year. Let me be clear, I'm not referencing the employee+employer cost, rather it is that is more than $400 withdrawn from your (employee) check every 2 weeks (over $9,600 year from your check). In regards to negotiations, I informed HR of my salary range and HR agreed the position was in the range. After phone interviews and taking time off to do an in person interview, I received an offer $10k less than the bottom of the range we previously discussed. I felt this was deceitful, but I still agreed to take the position after negotiating for more PTO. I soon found out the benefits were lacking and I made the catastrophic mistake of not asking how much the medical benefits deductible were before accepting the offer ($400+ per check for medical benefits). Also, absolutely zero tuition reimbursement. The following is true for ANY sub-contractor and is true, but not unique to Innovate!, but adding the following so anyone not familiar with government contracting can be informed: A sub-contractor does not have much leverage on a government contract, so if any employees on the prime contract want you gone or you don't see eye-to-eye with the Program Manager, then you should start looking for other positions immediately, because all it takes is one phone call and you are gone. Whenever possible try to be on the Prime contract and not the sub.
