Management can forget that employees are more than just a number. They often pass on their passive management approach to team leads and it creates a detachment between manager and employees. Also, while RNs are truly the backbone of hospitals, emphasis should be given to other positions to provide opportunity for growth and remove the hierarchy of positions.

The term"nurses eat their young" holds true here. I have never been met with so much lateral bullying in my life. ICU is tough, but not impossible as a new grad with the right support. if you are willing to hire new grads in the ICU AT LEAST pair them with a preceptor WILLING to teach them instead of converse with their friends all day and scoffing at the idea of them hiring you as a new grad ADN in the ICU because they had to work Med Surg for 2 years after their BSN, before coming to the ICU. Why would you have someone precept a new grad/new hire with this mindset? Do you really expect them to provide the best learning experience without bias? Horrible experience as a first job out of nursing school. Once the "group" decides they don't like you they will make your experience miserable and suggest you "resign" bullying you until you leave. I was so excited to work here and left disappointed. Definitely not welcoming.
