Inova pays terrible for experienced nurses. Cost of living us very high in Nova, but they totally ignore that. Management decided a smart thing to do is create a system float pool solution to sfaffing problems. Float pool staff are paid $47+ /hr for doing the exact same thing in house employees are doing. Of course these nurses deserved to be paid that much. We work very hard. But that move dove out all the experienced nurses that were desperate for years for a decent pay to an internal travelling crap system. No real committment. Just show up, take care of yoir patients and leave. You get paid well for doing just that. Now the units are understaffed, filled with new grads that are paid crap like $25, for working so hard. Units management struggling to have internal staff take up responsibilty to run units smoothly. All the experienced nurses are running arounding from Hospital to hospital with fully utilizing their talents other than direct patient care.

Staffing shortage makes working difficult at times in the Emergency Department. Also, relations between the clinical and non-clinical staff can use improvement.
