Very much a valuable learning and growth experience; had good, bad, and ugly times with IFH.
Pros
Most managers and employees really welcome the variety of resources that HR can provide them. The hospital tries to do the right thing by providing and documenting the training that they are required to have. Lots of opportunities for training and career progression in many clinical and non-clinical careers.
Cons
Toward the end of my 8-10 year career in Human Resources with Inova Fairfax Hospital I was burned out. I think that combined with turnover in HR staff and leadership - the end of this adventure was inevitable in a way. I think the managers/clients that I supported had too much to juggle and in many cases were just trying to keep their heads above water. However, there were some in Senior Leadership that were just not very nice people and I think used fear to wield power because that's what short sighted, big mouth, nasty people do to try to get things done. No bitterness here...
