      Pros

      Great place to learn Critical Care nursing. Many specialty ICUs. There is prestige of being able to add Inova on your resume.

      Cons

      Too many management tiers. Easy to get lost among the many employees and become just another number. Pay is mediocre. Easy to get burnt out.

      I spent my entire nursing career of 32 years at INOVA Fairfax making a difference at the patient's bedside.

      Pros

      I loved coming to work daily because I sensed I was valued as a team member to care for the patients I was assigned to daily. I was heard and respected for my experience and knowledge and participated in many unit, hospital and system wide committees to make positive change.

      Cons

      Some changes lately impacted on the more experienced, longevity, and higher paid staff that gave a feeling of being devalued.

      Pros

      They will hire those without experience to train A lot of team work among nurses and techs They give yearly raise even though they are extreme penny pinchers

      Cons

      Constantly short staffed Techs had up to 24 patients on an average night (this was a big unit) Nurses had 8 patients per night, forget finding float staff They are extremely anal about clocking in and out exactly on time (by the minute) Low pay Scheduling was a disaster
