Toxic culture with burnout and chaos
Pros
Strong trauma bonding with other AEs and teammates. The shared stress and chaos create tight peer relationships, and coworkers are often the main source of support. You will learn quickly due to being thrown into the deep end with minimal structure. Some name recognition in the space, which may be useful on a resume.
Cons
In my experience, Instawork is a toxic and exhausting place to work. The culture is high pressure, chaotic, and poorly organized, with unclear direction and little regard for employee well being. Leadership felt reactive and out of touch while pushing unrealistic expectations. Goals shifted frequently with minimal communication, yet employees were blamed when things went wrong. Accountability flowed downward only. Burnout is built into the culture. Overwork is normalized, boundaries are discouraged, and constant availability is expected. Asking for support or pushing back felt risky. Communication was dismissive, and employee concerns were often minimized or reframed as individual performance issues rather than systemic problems. There is little structure or long term planning. Teams are understaffed, priorities conflict, and strong performers are rewarded with more work instead of growth. Turnover is high for a reason. Despite polished external messaging, the internal environment felt stressful, unstable, and emotionally draining, with low morale and little trust in leadership.
