Pros

Some interesting projects, smart colleagues, chance to get a clearance and get into the federal work pipeline.

Cons

Management and many principals don't care about nurturing or developing talent; much easier to just bring them in. Management indiffernece of staff means that there's also very little accountability for lazy workers (and support/rewards for hard workers). Not very diverse and can be extremely cliquey. Projects are often re-gurgitated year after year. Feels like a place where 20 year retired O-5/6s go to vegetate.

Early career staff are essential to continued success and future generations at IDA. We are always looking for opportunities to improve employee experience, and take all communicated feedback seriously. We urge all IDA staff to engage with their workplace communities. Employee Resource Groups are a great opportunity to not only meet colleagues outside of your immediate working group, they serve as an important tool for providing feedback and accountability to leadership on DE&I issues. We also encourage all IDA staff to engage with both your division/directorate management and HR (additional information available via the HR Service Center) to learn about the many learning and development resources we offer. This includes educational assistance and tuition reimbursement for qualified staff, regular educational seminars and guest speakers, numerous wellness webinars, opportunities to attend professionally relevant conferences and events, and more. Staff should also bring forward development opportunities they are interested in pursuing.
