Pay Rate is a bit low

OneBeacon is first and foremost a financial entity. In the four years that I worked with them, I was below the minimum for my pay grade despite the fact that I was cited for excellent performance. The company does not care about persona issues whether a death in the family or eldercare situations or illness. The bottom line is its main concern. Employee issues are not important to them. They have a long history (prior to my employment there) of lying to its employees, disregarding procedures, and eliminating anyone that does not stack up. A good example of the company's method of operation comes from their Commercial Union's merger with General Accident (the company became, ultimately, OneBeacon). GA employees were told that if they stayed with OneBeacon for five years, rather than find other jobs in the wake of the merger, they would receive a significant monetary reward, whether pension vesting or otherwise. The significant majority, if not every person (I believe it was each employee) was terminated prior to the five year mark.
