Thank you for your review. We're happy to hear that you're enjoying the flex environment! Our total rewards package is well regarded among employees which includes bonus, a defined benefit or defined contribution pension and a Employee Stock Purchase plan. We hope you are tapping into all of these elements.

Pros

Intact Edmonton Commercial Lines is average for work life balance (individual is given options, you make what you will of it), job security and management - good for job culture (Thanks more to staff than management) and salary/benefits (Defined Benefit pension is huge, ask around) – poor (2 stars) for advancement. Overall I’d rate this office as average. Staff are expected to be prepared to work, apply themselves and deal with constant change. If you bring this attitude and get along with others you will be rewarded with a secure position that gives a strong grounding in the business along with ample opportunity to cross train.

Cons

The Edmonton management team is average on customer excellence, integrity, respect, profit, etc. but it has unique interpretations on advancement. Advancement to the intermediate underwriter level is merit based. Above that, not as much. The upshot is that Sr. Underwriter/manager technical & people skills vary greatly. This variety causes tension and is not uncommon in office environments.
