A growing disconnect between leaders and employees

Business Outlook

Pros

Flexibility of schedule and independence in my work; ability to affect change in my area of responsibility with little bureaucracy

Cons

The leaders are unwilling to listen to messages they do not want to hear; it is a culture where leaders tell you what to do and you do it. Employees are only valued when they do something extraordinary and then they are forgotten. Shining stars either burn out and are pushed down or leave. No one is promoted to executive levels.

Pros

Broad range of products for operating rooms and clinical environments.

Cons

Unrealistic territory growth expectations. Bit of a good ole "team member" mentality. Not actually supportive of age diversity - CEO not concerned with employee well-being - just numbers.

Metrics and Ego Driven Decisions

Pros

Competitive pay and great benefits. Great site level colleagues who care and are trying to do the right thing.

Cons

This is the problem: Corporate makes decisions for the site without having any remote understanding of the products or processes. Sure they make their visits, but not enough to truly have any proficiency in the site. They bully site management as if they know better on how to run the site. Additionally, there's no value in tribal knowledge and its retention. Corporate leadership saw colleagues as replaceable/expendable if they didn't like the new way. So many subject matter experts are gone that truly were the glue to understanding the site and its unique products. It should emphasized, the Cincinnati site makes very complex and life saving products. With all the turnover, majority of the sme's and their knowledge are gone leaving a skeleton crew to pick up the pieces.
