Pros

Company had very generous PTO policy and benefits. I worked in Custom Product Formulations and the job was varied and interesting with lots of opportunities to learn new processes and try out new equipment in the field.

Cons

Management in this department was ageist, racist and played favorites horribly. They were only interested in associating with coworkers who had children and were willing to gossip about everyone else. More than one person had very sensitive personal information that they shared with management out of necessity spread around to everyone in the lab. They tried to manipulate people into doing what they wanted but were terrible and obvious about it. HR did nothing to attempt to correct this, despite multiple people voicing complaints until they were threatened with legal action. They were more interested in keeping and promoting people who fit their warped personalities than people who did the work well. Despite their assurances that they wanted people in the lab to socialize, if those social events didn't involve them, the people involved were punished.

Pros

Nice to learn scientific processes

Cons

I worked here for 4 years. At the end of it all it felt like a bad relationship. I gave and gave and gave, trying to get better than average performance reviews to enhance my position in the company. Always received "meets expectations." To be truthful, the reviews feel like a beat down so raises didn't have to be more than 3%. I spoke up during a town hall about a process that I came up with that the company used to enhance efficiency. I received a visit from the CFO, and not soon after, I received a harassment complaint from somewhere in the company, and this was used against me during compensation reviews. The accusations were flimsy at best. I also was moved into a dead end position that did not have any room for forward advancement. When receiving an offer from a different company, I gave IDT an opportunity to counter. Again, they used the "harassment complaint" to not counter the offer, sighting that I was "on probation." I contacted my HR business partner and que the shady business. I was not on probation, and caught two managers in lies that they were telling me to not have to try to give me a counter offer. I had a final meeting between my HR business partner and manager where I rejected the counter offer (not even close to what I received as an initial offer from the other company) I was told that IDT pays for performance and not ideas, completely minimizing and negating all my efforts towards making processes better.

Pros

The company is largely filled with a young workforce where as a queer person I generally felt accepted and supported. Direct management has always been very supportive, and I've enjoyed being part of cutting edge advancements in biotechnology.

Cons

Upper management is very corporate and interested in bottom lines and results, not individual well being. Strong anti-union rhetoric without trying to address the issues that led to a unionization effort. The parent company's concerns and expectations far outweigh anything happening at the manufacturing level
