Pros

- Great company mission - Opportunity to travel - Interesting projects - As a funder organization, we're not scrambling to write grants - Great supervisors, though it depends on the department - Ability to define my own work - Great speakers come to the IDB (Arianna Huffington, Luis von Ahn), and opportunities for fun (salsa and art classes) after work - Fair compensation, but you must negotiate your rate for it to be competitive - Good work-life balance. You're not expected to stay late at the office.

Cons

- No benefits (health, retirement, etc.) for consultants - Changes in contract procedures mean consultants are forced out after a certain number of years, which leads to bitter employees who could have further contributed to the Bank
