Pros

There are lots of talented people who are mission-driven working at the Bank. As an international consultant, your income will be tax-exempt. The Bank can sponsor a G4 visa for you and your family.

Cons

Your experience will depend on your direct supervisor. Staff and consultants are treated differently. Contracts are short-term and people are let go for no apparent reason. There are no performance reviews. Most teams work in silos. It's very hard to challenge the status quo. Your supervisor may micromanage you, set unreasonable deadlines, and not value your qualifications or prior experience. This is a very centralized and hierarchical organization.

Pros

Good benefits, inclusive culture, and well-defined purpose.

Cons

Non-meritocratic institution, poor career development. Compensation is below average in many countries. Over time, the political culture creates an untrustful environment.

Pros

Good work environment. Generous leave and vacation days. No income tax over wages if you're an alien (gross salary = net salary) hence compensation is relatively high.

Cons

No paid medical insurance for consultants
