Pros

International work environment and meaningful work with developing countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. Opportunity to meet with important stakeholders in the region.

Cons

Complicated bureaucracy and very hierarchical at times, even though the latter is evolving and becoming more horizontal. Difficult to become a full-time staff even with years working in the institution.

Pros

A very good working experience, get exposure to international organizations. Good benefits for consultant. No tax need to pay! Great location.

Cons

Hard to get a staff position. The workload is really intensive. Need to understand official organization language, Spanish is a big plus.

Pros

I worked for the IADB for almost 5 years. Its a good place to start your work experience. Nice people from al over the world but more from Latin America. Good salaries. Good location and some offices are nice. Good working balance. People have at least 24 days off per year. Managers dont care about how may days off are you taking

Cons

After some time maybe years there is not growing opportunities. Very bureaucratic place. Most of the employees are working them for so many years so things some times are very slow. As a consultant you dont have benefits. Benefits are only for staff people.
