Pros

So, it is hard to mention the pros for this company as a consultant. Because compared to other employees in the bank you are or in a better position or you aren't. So basically, the pros are: You get $250 for your individual insurance in USA (but there is a catch, they are only paying you 50% of the insurance you should get in the market). If you stick to what they say, you will be spending more on insurance than you have planned. There is a slight possibility you can get an extension of your contract (max of 3 years with the most idiotic hiring policy for consultants) or if you have a lot of luck, you can get a staff position (which comes with the corporate insurance, you get more vacations days, retirement plan and the slight possibility to get at least 2 raises in your ENTIRE bank's life).

Cons

If you didn't know about the REPATRIATION and RELOCATION allowances during your negotiation of the contract, you won't get it later. HR won't tell you about it, because HR is not there for you... it is there to protect the company. There is nothing they would like to do to keep you working as a consultant. It doesn't matter if you worked +80 hours a week during your 3 years, if you were the best in the area and they don't have a position to offer you, they cannot keep you working. If you find a staff position in another division, it is quite difficult to get it, people HIRE people who are recommended or they trust.
