Pros

Inter-Con is a great company to work for. All sites with different captains have different work environments. Some sites are more kick back than others. No matter the the case, Inter-Con had my back and if I couldn't handle a stressful site, Inter-Con was understanding and placed me at another site. All in all, I have nothing but positive things to this awesome company.

Cons

No cons at all on my part.

Pros

Working at an annex is nice. My supervisor and colleagues are nice and make working fun.

Cons

I lived far from the annex so the commute was very trying. I do not have much experience working in DC but from what I hear from others, it doesn't seem great. The few times I have been there the supervisors seem a bit cold and dismissive but I don't have enough experience to speak more on it. I wanted this job to receive a clearance and move on to my desired field. I found out I received my hard clearance over a year ago and no one told me. I asked my supervisor periodically and he checked the companies system and he would always say it read I was still interim. So for over a year, I was not receiving the bonus I deserved and thought I could not move on to the next job. So there is that...

Pros

Always have the ability to get overtime if you're willing to work odd hours, get your TS security clearance (albeit a DoS), firearms training, DCJS security licence, understand entry control, barrier use, roaming patrols, uniform care and maintenance and timeliness

Cons

If you're at main state, the parking situation is atrocious. You can get held over regularly when starting out, shoes (corframs) must be worn, no alternatives and they are the worth orthopedic footwear possible, scheduling time off is a giant chore and even if you're worked something out with a supervisor, they might not pass that on to another and your time off goes away, you serve to be a body in the line of defense for the state building and your personal life is inconsequential. Your schedule gets revised 4 days before the week and may change dramatically. You must choose between health insurance or a 401k type plan for your health and welfare wages.
