Pros
Safety Driven - they genuinely care about employee safety and will change processes to ensure it. Union friendly - organized collective bargaining agreements are not a sin. Opportunity for advancement - you move as far as you want. Work hard! Fair salary and benefits which are competitive with industry. Work-Life balance is pretty good.
Cons
Risk averse - very difficult to procure capital for improvements, especially if you are in a static or declining market sector. Prefers stability and the status quo as opposed to being first to market or a maverick. Large bureaucracy - paper mills like to generate paperwork. Medical benefits suffer weak packages along with most American businesses.
