      Pros

      Less stress for average sklled person. Benefits are good for the region and industry. Good place for beginners to build job skills.

      Cons

      Growth opportunity is only based on communication skills and political savvy people. Technically skilled people in IT are not reviewed based on performance. Even if you save tons of money on projects, there is no payback to the contributor. There are plenty of managers ready to take credit for the work.

      End of an Era

      Pros

      The Albany Paper Mill was the first Western Kraft/Willamette Industries paper mill. It was the largest employer in county in tax revenue, employee salaries, etc.

      Cons

      IP closed the mill at the end of 2009. The small paper machines were not competitive in the global market. The back end of the mill was new (by industry standards, less than 10 years) and may find new life in future.

      practice diversity in hiring key positions, promote safety and a healthy work environment, ability to have upward mobility, good interaction between departments, health benefits, good 401K program

      Cons

      asked to do more with less (less support personnel, less tools to work with), too many projects and not enough internal support to see them fully develop
