Questionable work Ethics

Pros

I've been some wonderful people.

Cons

Only way to get promoted or advanced is to be friends with the correct people or be the same ethnicity. Leadership expects you to meet unrealistic expectations. Pay is not at all equal to the work that is expected. Many unethical calls that leads Expect you to follow through with and if you don't, good luck. Some calls you don't realize are unethical unless you know the laws. They hire many past clients just to help them out and not because they are qualified for the job. They don't take reports seriously and say they will look into it but end up just giving you trainings to follow up on. IRC states they are about protecting staff first, but on many occasions have allowed clients to become hostile, rude, and aggressive towards employees and give the clients everything they ask for after such behaviors, rather than taking them out of the programs to keep staff safe. With it being so diverse the line of professionalism isn't fully understood.

Pros

The staff, for the most part, is full of well Intentioned and kind folks. Locally-everyone is lovely. The work is meaningful. There are a lot of training opportunities and teamwork. Overall I've found working locally to be very ethical and my team is amazing.

Cons

The disconnect between the national and local branches is strange and confusing. So many barriers are put in your way to doing your job, that you need a thick skin and a lot of persistence and scrappiness to keep going. Overly complicated systems inhibit work, and the layoffs are demoralizing. The industry is just a hard one.

Pros

I love being part of direct client-facing staff. I enjoy the passion of the coworkers I work with. Because I work within a new program, I enjoy the freedom to develop systems and processes that best work for me. It's fun being a part of developing the tracking methods and workflow that will be adapted in the future.

Cons

The office lacks the funding to hire the appropriate support staff that is needed, so everyone is over capacity and there is no help to be had even if you ask for it because everyone is trying to stay afloat. As a newer office, it means that processes are not fully developed and so you're on your own and that's often frustrating and disorganized. It means often being reactive instead of proactive when addressing issues. Plus, the onboarding process is so ineffective and inefficient. It is only focused on refugees, which is not helpful for CHE staff because everything in that program is different.
