Pros

-Mostly nice, helpful, smart people -Good products, interesting projects -Nice facilities

Cons

-Kind of outdated in some ways. (needs to have some kind of remote work policy) -The pay simply needs to improve to keep solid employees -Some managers really don't do much and you wonder what are even their responsibilities. They can be a bit out of touch and are unaware of what you are doing. You find yourself needing to do a bit of "showing" and "proving" that you are doing your work. Otherwise, they can't seem to tell.

Pros

I was respected by my peers and bosses. I got along with everyone fine in my 5 years at Navistar.

Cons

The company's executives lack vision. They want to make money but have no real plan on this. All we did was cut costs, cut costs, cut costs. No one is buying Navistar/International product. That is why the company will fail in the long term. Costs of products are too high and we have a horrible reputation in the trucking industry. Middle management is horrible at Navistar. They run around without purpose, cutting programs and groups, and redeploying this resources to only start up the same programs with new people a few months later. So much experience and knowledge is lost through this mismanagement of resources. Navistar is only focused on one thing, cutting costs. There is no quality or customer first attitude, cost is the only thing that matters right now and no one can figure out how to make more money, so to help our bottom line all we can do is cut costs.

Pros

Coworkers were great to work with. Chief engineers were very good at deflecting and focusing work where it needed to go. Projects were very fulfilling

Cons

Budget, workforce, and timeline cuts put a lot of pressure on the engineering staff. Too many executives/VPs pulling everyone in too many directions, with no clear path. Playing the catch-up game due to past decisions was very demoralizing. Continual flattening of the organization prevented room for promotions
