      Pros

      Inventory will keep you on your toes and you learn how to do some useful things like replacing watch batteries and other assorted gadgets.

      Cons

      The customers are always the downside of any job. You just can't make everyone happy. Also my Interstate Batteries location was franchised so the ladder got a lot shorter.

      Culture of Complacency. Top sales people only make 58k. Average pay is 46k.

      Pros

      Easiest job I’ve ever had. It’s the only call center environment I’ve worked in where they don’t care about how many outbound phone calls you make. It’s bizarre. If you like complacency and like to get by doing the minimums, this is the job for you.

      Cons

      Extremely low pay, base starts at 37k or so. Company culture is way too relaxed, that’s why they are barely profitable (the All Battery Division in Urbandale). Lots of drama and low skilled sales people. Management plays favorites and is Facebook friends with half the employees (good managers don’t do this). Top sales person can only top out at 58k or so, and that’s after selling $1.3M in sales. That pay ratio doesn’t equate.

      Pros

      The owner puts on a good face initially.

      Cons

      Everyone is family, if you disagree with them you will be reprimanded. The pay is low and the work is hard and the hours are long. It would be different if they showed some appreciation for their employees, but the attitude is "it is expected".
