Overall, a good place to work

Pros

Intertek has a diverse environment and allows for learning by doing within your own position. There are opportunities for growth if you happen to have the right management.

Cons

Management oftentimes cannot perceive you in any role other than the one you currently hold so transferring to another team/division is not offered or an option. There is a lack of clear communication from management, realising that some topics should not be divulged in their entirety, but employees left to their own imaginations as to the reasons for organizational changes will always assume the worst.

Pros

I can't think of any. If you need a job, this is the only reason I can see to work here.

Cons

The lies that are told, from the interview to the actual training and working. There's unethical lab practices, with technicians using QC's from other batches when their's fail. People just getting into the field are taught horrible lab practices. Managers bring food into the lab and employees will put the food inches away from standards and samples. There is NO safety training, just the standard videos. Acid solutions aren't made under the acid hood. Instead, it's made on a lab bench with technicians holding a bottle of concentrated acid inches from their face saying, wow, this is really hot. That's a lawsuit waiting to happen, but CB just wants to cover themselves. It's not about the employee's safety. Also, the trainer talks about the first week they were there, that they caused a fire and needed six hours to do one composite. They give "forgiveness" and hold the hands of those in their favor while sabotaging others. They also sabotage other workers in front of you, which is completely unprofessional. There's also another trainer who says things that are different from the first, who also dips in the lab. It's acceptable and tells you something about the things that go on here.
