Pros

You get a paycheck every two weeks.

Cons

Disrespectful management. The processes are unorganized and you are provided with very little training. The electrical lab is inadequate and outdated. It's a safety hazard waiting for a serious accident. Projects are assigned to you by a manager and then you are expected to evaluate and complete it by the deadline they promised to the customer without discussing the scope of the project with the engineers. The management does not ask or respect the timelines and other workloads of other projects engineers are working on. An engineer may have to completely evaluate 3 to 4 new standards for a given project they are given and then complete the projects (usually 4 to 6 concurrently) and hand it off to a reviewer who is either remote or overloaded with work. Oh and you have to meet a monthly deadline and generate revenue based on your salary. Did I also mention you have to meet with the customer ( some of which are very difficult and demanding to work with) and then to top it off, the engineer has to bill the customers themselves and write the rejections or C of A's as well. As you can tell the turnover is extremely high and they use a lot of contract workers, many of whom are fresh out of school. This is a poorly run business model and the moral is extremely low. Advice to management is to end the childish "accountability meetings" and focus on devising efficient processes and training, and respect the engineering team. Also, invest in the lab, equipment, and training. Hardly anyone knows how to use the tools and outdated test equipment they currently have.

Pros

I do not think there is any "Pros" other than 4 weeks of PTO a year

Cons

Cons: 1. Career growth is limited. It’s hard to move into other engineering roles. 2. The work is not typical engineering. It’s mostly compliance -focused. You get some product exposure, but learning opportunities are limited. 3. Poor Management and training, The three month training period lacks proper mentorship. You may be given critical tasks early and expected to handle high-pressure situations on your own. 4.Many people leave the company after about three years. It can be hard to transition to other careers. 5. The management only cares about money and salary increases are rare. Raises do not happen often.
