Pros

1. Flexible schedules available for many employees, including work from home options. 2. Medical, dental, and vision benefits are very good, and reasonably priced. 3. Generous 401(k) matching. 4. Stock options and ESPP purchase at 15% discount. At times has been of great value, but in a down market, the benefit is clearly reduced.

Cons

1. Job security isn't what it used to be. There don't seem to be any set rules management follows for letting people go. There's a sense of anxiety in not knowing how solid of ground you are on. 2. A significant number of decisions by management, particularly in certain departments, are poorly thought out and don't seem to follow any logical strategy. 3. Employees with specialized knowledge and significant experience are continually expected to give their heart and souls to the company, but it doesn't feel that the sentiments are returned. 4. It's definitely a good thing to continually be challenged in your position, but when the challenges are not in line with your core job responsibilities or personal strengths, it is more difficult to stay motivated. Many challenges I am given in my current position are challenges along the lines of figuring out what the latest management buzz words are rather than focusing on delivering a quality product.

Pros

The benefits are great and the company seems to care about its employees for the most part. Due to the size of the company, there appears to be opportunities for growth and possibilities to work on a variety of projects while learning different skills. The unstructured time provides additional opportunities to learn new skills and work on interesting projects. The company is very good in terms of caring for the environment as well as giving back to the community through various charitable causes. It is also nice to work for a company whose products are well known by a large number of people.

Cons

Most of the time, there is more talk than action at this company. Many people are rewarded or promoted because they present themselves well, even if they produce nothing and add no real value to the company. Management is too scared to make important decisions in case those decisions backfire and they are held accountable. Certain parts of the company are organized poorly and the result is a lot of power struggles and even more office politics. No one is willing to make a decision that might put them out of favor with any of the people that have gained some form of power.
