Good people and learning opportunities, bad CEO

Pros

kind, collaborative, and well-intentioned people and culture

Cons

In-office policy is highly restrictive and inaccessible, and employee voices on the matter are routinely ignored. The CEO and senior leadership can be shifty and lack significant transparency in decision-making.

Pros

Projects - Invenergy has a lot of really interesting projects that you won't find residing with a singular company elsewhere, perhaps short of Nextera. HVDC, offshore wind, storage, thermal, etc.

Cons

Organization - Invenergy grew rapidly and is quite disorganized. File storage resides over multiple platforms resulting in finding a document taking days when it should take a few clicks. Similar sentiment for paying suppliers, signing agreements, etc. Management - Management has a lot of good ideas to improve business practices but the implementation of these ideas is delegated to teams that are not able to fulfill that role. Process improvements often increase workload, rather than decrease workload. Qualified staff - Historically the company has hired individuals right out of college. Knowledge/expertise at the Senior/Director level and up is great, however the knowledge transfer does not exist. There is a gap at the mid level range which continues to be frustrating to deal with and results in a lack of formalized processes and procedures. Every project operates in a silo recreating the wheel each time. Culture - Culture generally doesn't exist. Turnover seems high relative to my past jobs.
