Pros

Great office space right in the City

Cons

As a former employee of Investec, I feel compelled to share my disheartening experience working for this company. It pains me to say that Investec, once renowned for its people-centric approach, has devolved into a soulless corporate entity where respect is a mere afterthought, favoritism runs rampant, and employees are treated as expendable digits rather than valued contributors. One of the most glaring issues at Investec is the blatant disregard for basic human respect. Throughout my tenure, I witnessed countless instances where employees were spoken to condescendingly, dismissed without consideration, and treated as if their opinions held no weight. The culture of respect that was once touted seems to have evaporated into thin air, leaving behind a toxic environment where individuals are left feeling undervalued and demoralized. Furthermore, Investec's management seems to operate under the misguided notion that only those who speak the loudest deserve to be heard. Constructive feedback is often ignored or brushed aside, while those who are more vocal or politically connected are given undue preference. This creates an environment where meritocracy takes a back seat to favoritism, fostering resentment and breeding a sense of unfairness among employees. The rampant favoritism within the company is undeniable. It's disheartening to see promotions and opportunities being doled out based on personal relationships rather than merit or qualifications. Hardworking employees are overlooked in favor of those who curry favor with the higher-ups, perpetuating a cycle of disillusionment and discouragement among the workforce. What's most distressing is the stark contrast between the company's current state and its purported values. Investec once prided itself on its commitment to its people, but it has since devolved into a soulless corporate machine where individuals are reduced to mere numbers on a spreadsheet. The human element has been lost amidst the relentless pursuit of profit, leaving employees feeling disconnected and disposable. Until Investec addresses these systemic issues and reclaims its commitment to treating employees with dignity and respect, I cannot in good conscience recommend it as a place of employment.
