Pros

Jacobs Technology serves the Johnson Space Center area therefore you get the indirect benefit of having stable work hours. While not the best pay in the world for an engineer, the work life balance makes up for the low pay.

Cons

Again, Jacobs Technology serves the Johnson Space Center area therefore you get the annual worry about the government budget and how it will impact the projects originating from Johnson Space Center. You definitely will not be getting rich or have long term employment at the same company as the contacts are re-competed every 4 to 5 years.

Pros

Jacobs Engineering is a great place to work when the private sector is down. Most of Jacobs Global Building Division work comes from Federal contracts, so there's always a lot of work during those down periods and the Government funds a lot of projects. Fast paced projects. High value on safety.

Cons

Management's understanding of how technology can benefit the company at the production level. Little training outside of required safety and HR training. Very much an 'old-boy's' network. You must know someone to feel safe when the chips are down.
