Pros

- Coworkers were like family - Even though you're using outdated/obsolete hardware (from the early 90's in some cases), the wind tunnel work was interesting enough to keep things fresh - Fairly flexible work schedule when not on shift

Cons

- Coworkers were like family, which means management only hires people who "fit in", instead of hiring the best talent - Management in the Systems branch plays favorites and refuses to see the underlying issues plaguing the division - Outdated/obsolete software and hardware - NO upward mobility - Older folks in the division are stuck in their ways, so things don't get improved because of this

Cons

The Kaiser health insurance option is extremely lacking. It's expensive, and it doesn't cover my needs. There is only a single high-deductible health care plan option. Combined with far-below-average pay, when I joined I was forced to pause all my health care appointments. As an individual with several chronic conditions, this has been very problematic for my health. We talked with the benefits team, which promised to make some changes for me. After 7 months of repeated reminders, they never actually circled back to address the issue -- they've essentially ghosted. Jacobs has a bold self-announced theme of "culture of caring". In practice, this amounts to half-assed self-care tips at the start of each meeting, but does not translate to tangible benefits to their employees. It is clear that Jacobs as a whole does _not_ care about employee health. They are looking to extract labor for as cheap as possible and at the expense of the individuals that hold the company up.
