Why I chose Jacobs?

Pros

Jacobs is overall a great company to work for. Even though it is a huge company, I never feel like a number in the company. My coworkers are like family to me and the mentors I have within this company are ones I look up to for direction, guidance, and inspiration.

Cons

Some of the downsides include compensation that is about average and the lack of training when it comes to executing by standards.

Disrespected and strung along.

Pros

The employees I worked with were great people. I largely enjoyed my work and was given access to a lot of opportunities.

Cons

Management doesn't respect the people lower on the chain. I was hourly and was strung along without work for almost 3 months before I found another job and left. Management actively threatened to get in my way when I mentioned transferring internally to another division.

A very political workplace

Pros

Good pay, overtime, flexible schedule.

Cons

Health Insurance is a nightmare and it is ridiculously expensive. 401k does not apply to you on your first year of employment. So many "Blonde Girls" hired recently as new grad hiring which is very weird and shows some personal interests from department managers. Very political place, no matter how incompetent someone is, if he or she talks loudly in cubicle she or he will never be laid off. This is absolutely true. There is a person that 80 percent of the time she is over the phone gossiping with friends so loudly that everyone in isle can hear her. Guess what, in a consultancy company that clients pay you based on hours you work, many hardwork and efficient fellows were laid off but that person is still enjoying her time in Jacobs. Some employees, especially young, are abused in some groups with crazy work pressure imposed by bipolar middle managements to produce more results leading to bonus for middle and upper management. They don't care about your depression and dignity even though they claim "Employees are our biggest assets". One of high level managers, is unbelievably rude with young employees. If you want to talk to her about a situation, when you go to her office after you set an appointment with her, she stares at your eyes and says "WHAT DO YOU WANT?" like you regret why you humiliate yourself by wanting talk to her.
