Pros

Great colleagues and challenging projects. Good place to get experience before moving on to advance your career.

Cons

Often too much work and they are not very good at workload leveling. Some people work the bare minimum (up to 40 hours per week), leaving the rest of us to pick up the slack to hit deadlines and often working 50+ hours per week. No real incentive to work overtime since it’s paid as straight time for salary exempt full time employees. Promotions are hard to make happen and almost impossible once you get to the Senior level. You need lots of backup and references, it shouldn’t be that hard. The easiest way to get ahead, leave the company for a year or two and then come back. Over the past few years Jacobs hired a lot of people and often paid them more than long time employees with more experience and better qualified. Pay is ok, on par for the industry. Benefits are horrible, the insurance is terrible and 401k match is bare minimum. Great place to get some experience and move on. Take it from me, I was there for over 10 years and now that I’ve moved on to something better, I regret having stayed there so long (5 years max would be ideal).

Pros

As a former employee of Jacobs, I can confidently say that my experience was nothing short of enriching and transformative. One of the standout aspects of working at Jacobs is the unparalleled opportunity it offers for personal and professional growth. Throughout my tenure, I found myself constantly challenged to expand my skill set and embrace innovation as a change agent within the organization. The dynamic nature of the IT landscape at Jacobs provided an exciting backdrop for my career journey. I thrived in an environment where change was not just accepted but embraced wholeheartedly. This created a culture of continuous improvement and adaptation, where every day presented new and exciting challenges to tackle. It was invigorating to be part of a team that was constantly pushing the boundaries and driving positive change in the industry. Moreover, I must commend the exceptional individuals I had the privilege of working alongside at Jacobs. From colleagues to project collaborators, the level of talent, dedication, and camaraderie outside of senior leadership was truly remarkable. The collaborative spirit and willingness to support one another fostered a sense of community and made every project a rewarding experience. In summary, Jacobs provides an environment that empowers employees to thrive, innovate, and make a tangible impact. If you're seeking a workplace where learning and growth are encouraged, where challenges are viewed as opportunities, and where you'll be surrounded by inspiring colleagues, then Jacobs is the place for you.

Cons

My experience at Jacobs was unfortunately marred by significant issues stemming from leadership and organizational culture. One of the most glaring drawbacks was the lack of strategic thinking among the leadership team. There seemed to be a disconnect between leadership's vision and the practical execution of business strategies, leading to inefficiencies and missed opportunities. Moreover, the leadership's failure to address and mitigate toxic elements within the organizational culture exacerbated existing problems. There was a pervasive sense of toxicity that stemmed from a lack of understanding of how to align the business objectives with the company's values. This resulted in an environment where inappropriate behavior was tolerated, contributing to a sense of distrust and unease among employees. Perhaps the most egregious example of this dysfunctional culture was my personal experience with conspiring leaders who fabricated a hearsay HR case against me. Instead of addressing issues directly and transparently, these leaders chose to engage in underhanded tactics that ultimately cost me my job. This blatant disregard for fairness and professionalism not only tarnished my experience with Jacobs but also undermined any semblance of trust in the leadership. In conclusion, Jacobs has significant organizational and leadership challenges that need to be addressed urgently. Without a concerted effort to foster a more positive and inclusive culture and to instill strategic thinking at all levels of leadership, the company risks further erosion of employee morale and reputation. Potential employees should approach with caution and carefully consider the organizational dynamics before committing to joining Jacobs.
