Pros

Encouraged to learn things independently. Encouraged to train in different departments. Encouraged to help others.

Cons

Management does not deal with employees that spread rumors or cause problems with other people.

Pros

Engineering skills can be gained early in career however limited to those who are either lucky or show potential. In my case I managed to get good experience on decent projects which was good for my CV.

Cons

Certain departments are very restraining - training and progression is difficult, sometimes even dependant on areas which should not be on mentioned here. Sells themselves as an international company with opportunities to work abroad, this is not the case at ALL so don't be fooled. The salary is rather disgraceful for the profits the company is churning in. Especially disgraceful the salaries on offer for Chartered Engineers. If you want to be appreciated as a professional go elsewhere. Incredibly ungenerous when comes to trips away from home etc.

Pros

The job that Jacobs has in Alberta Canada is close to home. The Client they work for treats people okay and with respect.

Cons

Treat employees with disrespect when policies are introduced or threatened by saying jobs are on the line. Constantly changing personnel around causing upsets and chaos. Load foreman on the job with so many tasks that jobs don't get completed or are done wrong with missing avenues of work. Always asking craft for help in how to help manage jobs and projects (missing or not ordering material...planning a job without ordering material....having foremen on jobs wasting time looking for material that was never ordered). Forcing craft to do substandard work. Always worried about paper work to fudge safety incidents (forcing employees to fill out paper work on possible safety which in-turn causes hazards because employee is not focused on the job in front of them). Always treating employees like under age teenagers.
